'Tainted Love':Chapter Seven

Basil sighed.

Wade kept his gaze on him and tilted his head to the side. "Something wrong?"

"Well no it was more in relief. At least we know she's going to sort of like you. What about you? Are you ok?"

Wade smiled and shook his head. "Of course, just nervous over the phone…I usually am. I don't know whether they're...making faces or something...I don't know. I'd rather speak face to face. I'm used to parent-teacher conferences so it's usually not that bad for me. Although this time it might be different. Who knows."

Basil thought for a moment. "Is it kind of weird for you that I'm like as young as your students?"

Wade mulled over the idea. It had never actually occurred to him that much. "Well, not really. I mean you don't exactly act like an immature brat. Don't get me wrong, I guess not all sixteen year olds are...but...you're just different. Maybe it's because you're wiser...more experience in life. Less reckless."

Basil laughed. "Yeah well I guess I've already done all the stupid stuff so its kind of out of my system...but I still have the stupid teenage hormones and so I still do stupid teenage things...it’s really embarrassing too".

Wade grinned, twirling a strand of his blonde hair. "Well, I guess it's only natural. I mean you are 'sixteen'. I'd be strange if you did old people's stuff."

"Yes, but it means I act really immaturely and only realize how much of an ass I've made myself when its too late". He cast his eyes down a bit.

"Don't worry. People make mistakes. I do it everyday of my life. All I know is that it wasn't a mistake that I met you."

"Believe me, I bet in your whole lifetime, you haven't done as many bad things as I have."

“I’m sure you’re exaggerating.”

"I have lived for 964 years Wade, I know I have made more mistakes than you". He saddened a little. "I've made mistakes that have taken the lives of others.”

That last statement chilled the air around them. Wade stood up, sitting beside Basil on the booth’s seat. He wrapped his arms around Basil's shoulders once again and lowered his head so that he could rest his chin on Basil's left shoulder. "Don't worry, I'm sure you couldn't help it. You are forgiven Basil”, he murmured.

Baz shivered a little with the warmth of Wade’s words and contact.

How do I tell him this? How can I tell him about Anthony…and why I love him.

Anthony appeared across the table in the place where Wade had been sitting. He was smiling his cruel smile and propping his head up in his right hand. “Tell him all the nasty little details Baz Baz; tell him the only reason your bothering with him is me, tell him that you loved to be raped so much you fucking cursed me, tell him you murdered me."

Basil swallowed the lump in his throat. ”I could have prevented it actually...especially with one person...it was so incredibly selfish". His eyes never left the spot where Anthony was ‘siting’.

Wade moved his left hand up to cup Basil's right cheek. "Basil...I'm sure it wasn't your fault."

"It was my fault Wade". He then looked like he was struggling to say something. Very quietly, he said, " I gave him the curse".

Wade tilted his head a bit to the side. "Did he know about it though?"

"Not when he got it...only later, and that's why....he committed suicide".

“I didn’t kill myself, you killed me Basil.”

Shut up you bastard! Go away!

Wade was at a loss for words. "Well, I understand that it must be hard to deal with...but...that's just like getting an std, right? Would he kill himself over that? Probably not. You can't help the fact that he was mentally weak."

Basil took a deep breath, the lump in his throat growing. "No but I knew that I would be giving it to him, that he would live for such a long time. I thought he would be happy that I did this for him, but his family abandoned him and he actually ended up hating me. So much so that he made sure that I saw him kill himself and to make it extremely painful to add to my guilt. He also made sure that I wouldn't be able to stop him".

Anthony started laughing. “What bullshit! I can’t believe you just lied to fairy pants.”

GO AWAY ANTHONY! GET THE FUCK AWAY FROM ME!

Anthony faded away, still chuckling

"Still, Basil dearest, don't blame yourself. I'm telling you...people like that...who purposely torture their friends, lovers...don't deserve your kindness."

Basil turned to look at Wade, tears shining in his aqua eyes.

Damn it, how can I explain this to him, without revealing anything

"But don't you see...it's going to happen to whomever I give this to".

"Yes, I do. And hopefully the person you choose will be willing to accept your sincerity, respect and love. I'm sorry if I don't help at all, I was never really good at this stuff."

Baz gave a small smile at Wade's last comment, but then saddened again.

He doesn’t realize I'm afraid for him. He doesn’t realize anything

Wade backed off, still sitting close to Basil. "Now, now. It's not the time to be sad. Your mother is coming soon. You should be cheerful," Wade said, using his fingers to help give Basil a smile.

"I'll be happy when she gets here. I'm an actor remember". He avoided Wade's stare and his torturously beautiful eyes.

"Heh, how could I have forgotten that? Well, I'd love to see you happy again too. I'm sorry if I brought up the subject...I'll try to help you anytime you wish, so if you ever need someone to talk to, I'm your man. I can't guarantee how much help I'd be..." Wade kneeled next to Basil and kissed him on the cheek.


Basil couldn’t help but smile at the kiss and looked at the young man. "You use those too much to your advantage you know".

He grinned. "Yes, of course. But you don't put up a struggle, which makes me want you more."

Basil tilted his head a little bit. "But you don't give me any reason to struggle". And with that said, he closed the distance between them to kiss him.

I will tell him everything…someday.
